Letter to the Editor

We condemn to our great professor Pr Dr Ragab Abdel-Salam, Professor of Cardiology, Zagazig University who found this promising unit. He is still the leader of our team.

In the last 2 years, from December 2016 until now we succeeded to deal with 174 different cases of congenital heart diseases. 73 PDA cases, 30 ASD cases, 12 VSD cases were closed percutanously via different types of closure devices. 16 cases of pulmonary valve stenosis and 3 cases of Valvular aortic stenosis were dilated and lastly, 8 cases of aortic coarctation were stented.

In ASD cases, we had met many challenging cases, especially the cases with big redundant inter-atrial septal aneurysm. We invented a special technique of closure, named “modified to be devicable”; where we made a hole in the center of the week aneurysm and open the device through it.

In VSD cases, we had closed a traumatic forgotten VSD after a stab wound in a young man, without snaring and using an ASD not VSD device.

In PDA cases, we succeeded to close a huge PDA in 17 years female with an ASD device, as it was short and looked as if it is a window not duct. The PDA was 26mm and we succeeded to seal it with 26mm ASD device.

All thanks to all Congenital Intervention unit in Delta Cardiac Centre “ DCC”. We can not forget Pr Dr Marwa Gad, Dr Islam Galal, Dr Mohammad Alshetry, Dr Sama Nabil and Dr Mohammad Alsaadawy.
